Khaki Law Corporation is committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personal information.
We recognize our professional obligation to maintain the confidentiality of our clients’ information, and we recognize our obligations concerning the personal information of all individuals that we collect, use or disclose in our practice. This policy has been developed with those obligations in mind.
2. What Is Personal Information?
Personal Information is a broadly defined term that includes information that is reasonably capable of identifying a particular individual. Personal information includes employee personal information. It does not include business contact information or work product information.
Some examples of personal information are: name, home address, gender, education, income, financial information, date of birth, drivers’ license number, and employment history.
Note: the fact that a client has retained us to provide legal services is confidential, and without prior consent, that fact will not be disclosed to any third party.

By providing personal information to us or our service providers, you agree that we may collect, use, and disclose such personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and as permitted or required by applicable law.
If you do not agree with these terms, you are requested not to provide personal information to us. You may withdraw your consent at any time by providing us with reasonable notice, just keep in mind that doing so may result in us being unable to provide you with our services.
4. Why Do We Collect Personal Information?
We collect, use, and disclose personal information to provide our clients with legal services or to otherwise fulfill the purpose of the collection. To be able to provide legal advice to our clients, we need access to all relevant facts and information that relate to our retainer and the representation of our clients. This information will necessarily include personal information about our clients and individuals other than our clients.
We collect, use, and disclose personal information for the following specific reasons:
- provide legal services;
- KYC rules, such as client identification and verification;
- check for conflicts of interest;
- establish and maintain client relationships;
- meet legal requirements, such as complying with court orders and subpoenas;
- respond to any requests that you have made, such as for appointments or general questions;
- contact and communicate with clients and other individuals for market research;
- for administrative, billing, and accounting purposes;
- for business development;

5. How Do We Collect Your Personal Information
By retaining us for legal advice or representation, an individual consents to our necessary collection, use or disclosure of the individual’s personal information in order to properly advise and represent the individual.
Where practical, we endeavour to collect personal information directly from the person who whom the information pertains. When necessary, we will collect personal information from other sources, including but not limited to, financial institutions, government agencies, etc.
6. Limiting Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
We limit the use and disclosure of personal information to purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.
We will not collect, use, or disclose personal information except for the identified purposes for collection or in accordance with this Privacy Policy, unless we have received additional consent from you or are otherwise permitted to do so.

We will retain your personal information only as long as needed by us to provide our services and as necessary to comply with legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.
We use cloud-based technology to store and manage personal information and client files. Some of this data is stored in servers outside Canada. By providing us with this information you accept the risks associated with storing such information outside of Canada.
We recognize our professional and legal obligations to protect the confidential information of our clients. We recognize as well our legal obligations to protect the personal information we have gathered about our clients and about other individuals during our practice of law.
Therefore, we have made reasonable arrangements to secure against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or destruction of personal information.
8. Accuracy
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the personal information we collect, use, or disclose is accurate and complete. In order to do this, we require that you provide us with accurate information and updated information, as needed.
You may request that we correct any errors or omissions in your personal information that is under our control. We will make the correction if the request is reasonable.
9. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify our Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. You should review our Privacy Policy from time to time to ensure you are aware of any changes.
